NORWEGIAN BAY WETLANDS
Norwegian Bay Wetlands includes the largest area of contiguous wetlands on Green Lake. It encompasses 18 acres with 600 feet of frontage on Norwegian Bay. The wetlands complex hosts a rich variety of native plants, providing habitat for a variety of wildlife, including amphibians and songbirds, and has a nesting platform for Ospreys. This property provides invaluable ecosystem services such as water purification, carbon storage, habitat for biodiversity and flood prevention. A boardwalk winds through the wetlands to the shores of Green Lake.

The Vascular Flora of Norwegian Bay Wetlands
Norwegian Bay Wetlands is home to 248 vascular plant specias from 71 families and 157 genera. Three species are cited in Wisconsin’s threatened and endangered species list. The geological and hydrological characteristics of Norwegian Bay Wetlands contribute to its unique ecosystem. It hosts a variety of plant communities including marsh, shrub-carr, sedge meadow, low prairie and fen, all contribution to the overall biodiversit of the area.
