FOREST RIDGE CONSERVANCY

This property has a variety of upland and wetland habitats, including cattail marsh, shrubland, old-field meadow and majestic Bur Oaks. It was donated to the Conservancy by two sisters, Margaret Draeger and Madeline Kanner. The rich agricultural land is being rented by an organic farmer and iscurrently being used for crops and grazing. The wetland hosts birds like Sandhill Crane, Sora and Common Yellowthroat, and the fields provide habitat for grassland birds like Bobolink, Eastern Meadowlark, Savannah Sparrow and Dickcissel.
